First Edition Two duodecimo (4-1/4" x 7-1/4") volumes bound in recent burgundy cloth-backed off-white boards with title information printed in black on both boards and printed white paper spine labels, new endpapers. Illustrated with 100 plates printed in green ink on varying sheet sizes. In this work, of which a projected third volume was never published, Rafinesque attempted to provide a comprehensive guide of native flora for the use of American doctors and pharmacists. Rafinesque made important botanical explorations on his 2,000-mile tour, mostly on foot, to the west of the Alleghenies in 1818. This work includes a number of previously unpublished Native American remedies. Minor chip here and there; plate 26 with clean horizontal tear with no loss; contents generally clean and binding Fine. We judge condition conservatively. All books are octavo First American or British editions in original bindings offered subject to prior sale unless otherwise noted. Dustwrappers present when described. All autographs are unconditionally guaranteed for life to be genuine. We attempt to note signatures and bookplates when present as well as any defect we see. In any case, any item may be returned, with prior notice, within 7 days of receipt for any reason. All returns should be shipped fully insured and prior notification should be given.

We request prepayment unless prior credit has been firmly established. Institutions can be billed to suit their needs.

Payment terms can be worked out for larger purchases. Don't be afraid to ask. Please include $11.00 postage for the first book and $6.00 for each additional book.

We will contact you for oversize, heavy, and/or international orders.

We cannot be responsible for uninsured parcels and recommend that you insure your purchases, costs which we can provide when you order. U.S. orders can be sent via UPS or U.S. Mail.

Overseas orders will be sent via priority, air, or private courier, depending upon value and customer's requirements at the approximate actual cost. We do not ship surface rate. PA residents must pay 6% sales tax.
