Livorno: Marco Coltellini, . First Edition Three folio (9-1/2" x 12") volumes bound in twentieth century half green morocco leather with marbled boards and endpapers and matching morocco corners. First Italian Edition of THE AMERICAN GAZETTEER, published in London in three duodecimo volumes by J. Millar in 1762, which Sabin 26814 refers to as "A meritorious work." Illustrated with engraved title vignettes and 78 engraved plates and maps (including engraved frontispiece, 20 folding maps, 19 maps, 35 plates, 3 folding views). This work covers parts of South America, Cuba, New England, and up to Newfoundland. The natural history plates include bison, penguins, and many others. A handsome presentation. Half-title with marginal repair, one leaf (Ll1) with a small repaired hole affecting text, first folding map with repair to verso, some light staining, mostly marginal; binding close to Fine with a little spotting to the leather. Overall Near Fine (Item ID: 018452)

We judge condition conservatively. All books are octavo First American or British editions in original bindings offered subject to prior sale unless otherwise noted. Dustwrappers present when described. All autographs are unconditionally guaranteed for life to be genuine. We attempt to note signatures and bookplates when present as well as any defect we see. In any case, any item may be returned, with prior notice, within 7 days of receipt for any reason. All returns should be shipped fully insured and prior notification should be given.

We request prepayment unless prior credit has been firmly established. Institutions can be billed to suit their needs.

Payment terms can be worked out for larger purchases. Don't be afraid to ask. Please include $11.00 postage for the first book and $6.00 for each additional book.

We will contact you for oversize, heavy, and/or international orders.

We cannot be responsible for uninsured parcels and recommend that you insure your purchases, costs which we can provide when you order. U.S. orders can be sent via UPS or U.S. Mail.

Overseas orders will be sent via priority, air, or private courier, depending upon value and customer's requirements at the approximate actual cost. We do not ship surface rate. PA residents must pay 6% sales tax.
