New York: The Viking Press, 1946. First Edition. Hardcover. A comedy about government corruption and the power of the individual to effect change. It was one of the most successful nonmusical Broadway productions in history. Illustrated with a photograph. INSCRIBED and SIGNED on the title page by the author to "Charlie," and additionally SIGNED by the actor Walter Matthau who had nothing to do with the production but who happened to be present when the book was signed. The play starred Judy Holliday who reprised the role in the 1950 movie adaptation directed by George Cukor and also starring William Holden and Broderick Crawford. Holliday won an Oscar for her performance. Fine in a Very Good dustwrapper with a small section torn away from the bottom front. Item #022603
