EMMY AWARD

[Chicago]: [R. S. Owens & Company], 1986. Statue. Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Writing in a Children's Series" to David Korr for SESAME STREET (1985-86). Consisting of a cast copper and nickel, gold-plated trophy weighing approx. 7 pounds, the statue stands 15-1/2" tall and depicts a winged woman, representing the muse of art, holding an atom, the electron of science, atop a wide pedestal base with the embossed text, "The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences" on the rim. The trophy was originally designed by TV engineer Louis McManus in 1948, using his wife as his model, and remains the symbol of the Academy's goal of supporting and uplifting the art and science of television. Engraved on the black-banded face of the base is, "1985-1986 Daytime Emmy Awards, Outstanding Writing in a Children's Series, David Korr, Sesame Street PBS". Korr is a multiple Emmy winner for his work on SESAME STREET. Accompanied by its original foam-fitted black satin lined box. Sold in December 2018 at a Profiles in History auction.
