Lanford Wilson was elected in 2001 to the Theater Hall of Fame and to the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2004. A founder of The Circle Repertory Company, he was one of the first playwrights to move from Off-Off-Broadway to Off-Broadway, then to Broadway and beyond. He was nominated for 3 Tony Awards and won a Drama Desk Award and 5 Obie Awards. His best-known plays are TALLEY'S FOLLY (which won the 1980 Pulitzer Prize) and THE HOT L BALTIMORE.
