[Tangier, Morocco]: 1986-87. Letter. Archive of 8 items, SIGNED letters and a document, plus a snapshot photograph of Bowles and 8 envelopes typed or hand-addressed by Bowles. All of the letters are on 8-1/2” x 11” onionskin paper except for the handwritten postcard, and are addressed to publisher Tim Hinterding regarding creating a separate publication in Dutch for Bowles's story, "Midnight Mass." The document is a SIGNED contract for that publication. The ALS, 2 July 1986 on a postcard, in full: "Thank you for sending the translation of the critical piece about the Rotterdam concert. I'd be willing to wager that the reviewer considers Wagner more important than Satie! Unfortunately, I have no unpublished stories for KILLA KOSSA. I write only three or four a year, and sometimes fewer. I'm glad you found the experiences recounted in Their Heads are Green believable." From one of the typed letters, dated 12 February 1987: "Your account of the two girls who accompanied you to your hotel was amusing, although it could have had seriously unpleasant results. It is very much prohibited for a European male to be with a Moroccan female. On occasion, in the past, such a couple has been stoned to death, or both have had their throats cut. It's surprising that your two friends were not arrested.... From their behavior ... I'd say they were both prostitutes, which I suppose you guessed, anyway." Near Fine. Item #022559
