[London]: 13 July 1939. Framed Letter. On the bottom blank portion of a typed letter to Shaw regarding finances from Andrew Tomlinson of The Beltane School on the school's stationery (7-1/2" x 10"), Shaw responds in red ink: "I know nothing about these trust funds; but I shall certainly not call in the principal as long as the interest is paid. I haven't time to think about it. If you need anything more than that you must draft the sort of letter Sir Walter wants, as I am quite in the dark as to the details." SIGNED with his initials and dated. Framed with a portrait print of Shaw to an overall size of 19" x 16" Not examined out of frame, but appears to be, other than the normal mailing folds, to be Near Fine. Item #022543
The Beltane School was a progressive, co-educational independent school that operated in Wimbledon, London, and later Melksham, Wiltshire, from 1934 to 1941. It was founded as a "School in Exile" to provide refuge for Jewish educators and refugee children escaping Nazi Germany.
