Item #022403 COLLECTION OF OVER 200 ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS. Dorothy PARKER, Alan CAMPBELL.

COLLECTION OF OVER 200 ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS

[1920s - 1970s]. Photograph. A collection of over 200 original photographs, nearly all black-and-white and ranging in size from 2" x 2" to 9-1/2" x 12-1/2" or so, along with some newspaper clippings and notes. Most are unidentified and require further research, but all come from the Pennsylvania home of Parker and Campbell with quite a few depicting Campbell at various points in his life. Among the photographs are 9 large mounted photos of the couple's Pennsylvania home, including aerial views, and 2 large portraits, possibly of illustrator Neysa McMein. There is a photograph of Parker with others in what appears to be a European location, as well as a photo of Robert Benchley and Marc Connelly smoking together, but most of the photographs seem to be related to Campbell. Also included is a long-playing record album (Sides 3 and 4) of Parker's writings read by Ilka Chase with a large printed description of the album. An interesting collection. Condition varies from Good to Fine. Item #022403

Parker and Campbell produced over 20 scripts made into movies, most famously the script of the Oscar-winning A STAR IS BORN. The couple was married from 1933 to 1947, and again from 1950 until 1963 when Campbell died of an apparent suicide.
