BELLE DAME SANS MERCI: PROOF of Canby's Review of Dorothy Parker's DEATH AND TAXES

The Saturday Review of Literature, 13 June 1931. Wraps. A single sheet (14" x 19") printed on one side and folded into fours of Canby's important review of Parker's book that helped establish her as a serious poet. This is a proof copy of that review in which Canby states, "I attempt no real criticism here, but I do assert that these poems [in Death and Taxes] deserve criticism and appraisal far more than many much bewritten books of more pretentious cerebration, yet with less beauty of technique and far less depth of emotion." The sheet also contains a review of another book. The word "Final" is written in the upper right corner. Very Good and likely the only copy in existence. Item #022400
