Item #022399 COLLECTION OF ORIGINAL AUTOGRAPH AND TYPED MANUSCRIPTS. Dorothy PARKER, Alan CAMPBELL.

COLLECTION OF ORIGINAL AUTOGRAPH AND TYPED MANUSCRIPTS

[1930 - 1949]. Manuscript. A collection of original working MANUSCRIPTS and partial manuscripts, mostly unproduced screenplays but including unpublished short fiction, on 8-1/2" x 11" and legal-sized sheets, with many corrections and annotations. Includes an unproduced adaptation of Agatha Christie's N OR M; a short story about screenwriting titled "Crazy But Charming"; two stories about Hollywood "A Perfect Cast" and "Personal Friend"; and most interesting, a large fragment (more than 60 pages both typed and handwritten) of an untitled play with characters named Mrs. Tiffany and Florrie that is annotated and corrected by both Campbell and Parker with 2 pages of Parker's handwritten notes in addition to the annotations. Most of the handwritten pages and annotations are by Campbell, but Parker's contribution is significant. An incredible find: an apparently unprinted and unproduced play by an important Academy Award-nominated screenwriting team, one of whom is also considered to be a leading wit of the 20th century. Good to Very Good with expected wear for working manuscripts. Item #022399

Parker and Campbell produced over 20 scripts made into movies, most famously the script of the Oscar-winning A STAR IS BORN. The couple was married from 1933 to 1947, and again from 1950 until 1963 when Campbell died of an apparent suicide.
