Bounemouth [sic], Dorset: 25 November 1989. Letter. A two-page handwritten letter on both sides of an 8" x 11-3/4" sheet of paper. Excellent content regarding her ground-breaking work with chimpanzees. Addressed to Nancy [Reynolds]. Goodall begins, "I think you are one of the very most important things that has happened for the chimpanzees in years. I mean that. The people you can introduce me to can make so much difference. And I hope you know how very, very grateful I am. On behalf of all the chimps -- Thank you." Goodall mentions a U. S. NEWS lunch where she was asked "incredibly far ranging" questions, giving examples including "'If it is a question of humans dying of AIDS versus chimp extinction, what is your answer?'... And that it simply demonstrated the need for searching harder for alternatives and sticking a Nobel Prize in there for good alternatives found. For any kind of animal tests."
