THE TRAVELS OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN

New York: Limited Editions Club, 1929. John Held, Jr. Hardcover. Large octavo (7-1/4" x 10-1/2") bound in half green calfskin leather stamped with a fish design in gold and printed cloth sides. The third book of the press, designed by William A. Kittredge and printed under his supervision at the Lakeside Press. Introduction by Carl Van Doren. Illustrated with linoleum cuts by John Held, Jr. Of a total of 1500 copies SIGNED by the artist on the colophon page, this copy is not numbered (in place of the number is written in ink "Office Copy") and bears the Club's blindstamp stating it is one of 15 presentation copies. The leather on this binding, often found chipped or dry, is here fairly supple though rubbed in a few places with resulting loss of color. Contents bright and fresh. In our experience one of the most difficult books of the press to locate in fine condition. Still a Very Good or better copy in a close to Fine slipcase. Item #017072
