New York: Limited Editions Club, (1949). Fritz Kredel. Hardcover. Six large octavo volumes (6-1/2" x 10-1/2") bound in half blue buckram stamped with genuine aluminum leaf and decorated paper boards. This marks the first publication of all 168 stories by Andersen, not simply his better known fairy tales, all translated by Jean Hersholt. Illustrated by Fritz Kredel with each of Kredel's 230 drawings colored by hand through stencils. Of a total edition of 1500 copies SIGNED by both the translator and the illustrator on the colophon page, this is one of only 15 Presentation Copies with the publisher's blindstamp attesting to such on the colophon page where instead of a number the letters "FK" are handwritten indicating that it is the artist's very own copy. Some discoloration to the boards of a couple of volumes, light wear. Easily Very Good in a close to Very Good slipcase with splits at the top and bottom edge of one side. Item #017919
